Kolymbari is a beautiful fishing village offering all amenities that one could wish for, brought to the ground in the Venetian era this village not only offers superb sunsets, a tranquil fishing port that was re-built by the fishermen of the village themselves hence the delicious fresh fish dishes that one can find in the many fish tavernas dotted along the waters front that offers superb sunsets, views through to the city of Chania and the Gonia Monastery perched above the little village  it also includes its everyday amenities such as a regular bus service to all neighbouring resorts including the largest built up tourist area being Platanias and of course the Venetian City of Chania once the capital of the island until 1971, two banks and a number of cash point machines in the area, bakeries, main supermarket along with its everyday mini markets , butcher, fishmongers, petrol station, cake shops, post office, hairdresser, greengrocers, cafeterias and tavernas.

Kolymbari being ideally situated to areas of interest and its south western beaches of Crete, Falassarna known for its award winning Blue Flag, Gramvoussa Balos Lagoons and not forgetting the off shore island of this Libyan beach boasting pink sands and palm trees, Elafonissi. The other side of Kolymbari is Kissamos/Kasteli which offers all the everyday amenities, along with its Venetian Harbour and port that offers daily excursions to the Balos Lagoons of Gramvoussa.
