There are some 60 domestic banks operating in Greece, these are divided into two groups, the commercial banks and the specialised credit institutions, both sectors are overshadowed by the National Bank of Greece.

Banking hours open to the general public are normally 08.00am until 2.30pm week days Monday to Thursday and Fridays normally you will find have an earlier closing time of half and hour being 2.00pm or in some areas may even be 1.30pm.
